Fountain of Green Gold

Do you know how many starts and finishes there were in 25 years of the race? And how many host cities? Let’s find out today, and also what is so special about the new host city Žalec.

Tour of Slovenia visited all corners of Slovenia in its 25 years long history. In this time we had 137 starts and finishes, with 65 Slovenian cities on the host list.

Novo mesto welcomed cyclists more times than any other city – 33-times! Second is capital Ljubljana with 29 starts and finishes, followed by Nova Gorica with 20.

We’re extremely happy that there are always news cities that welcome the race. This year’s new host is Žalec, which will host the start of the third stage with finish in Idrija. Cyclist already passed this city of hops and beer last year, but didn’t had time to stop at the now world famous beer fountain to taste excellent beer. Maybe they will have a chance to taste the elixir from Green Gold this time around.
