Tim Merlier to lead Alpecin-Fenix in Slovenia

Belgian team Alpecin-Fenix is one of the most successful UCI ProTeams, with their star rider Mathieu van der Poel taking number of victories and recently also an early lead on Giro. MVDP is taking a rest from racing till the Tour, so the team will be led by Tim Merlier who already won on Tour and Giro.

Tim Merlier had a great 2021 season, with stage victories on Giro and Tour. Slovenian fans remember his Tour de France victory, but not in a good way. It was a chaotic stage, full of crashes, it's also where Primož Roglič crashed and his race in France was over.

Merlier is a very good sprinter and is surely looking for stage victories in Slovenia. He’ll have a strong competition, but we of course wish him and his team all the best!
